The Bicycle Cellar has a well maintained fleet of rental bikes that are ideal for both commuters & tourists alike. Included in the price of rental is a lock, helmet, lights and flat repair kit (our competitors charge as much as $20 extra to rent these items!). If you bring a water bottle, we’ll also refill it for free. Staying in Scottsdale or Phoenix? Bicycles can be taken on the light rail which runs through downtown Phoenix. The majority of downtown Scottsdale can be accessed via the Indian Bend Wash mutli-use path which starts just north of Tempe Town Lake. Also within a 20 minute bike ride are several attractions including Papago Park (easy mountain bike trails), The Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Gardens, Kiwanis Park, Tempe Marketplace and the Pueblo Grande Museum & Cultural Park. Within driving distance we have some excellent mountain biking including South Mountain, McDowell Mountain and more. Statewide list of Bicycle & Pedestrian maps.
RESERVATIONS: Walk-ins always welcome subject to availability, we sometimes run out of bikes. For guaranteed availability a reservation is required. Reservations are accepted at no charge**. Reservations have a 30 minute guarantee, please be punctual. After 30 minutes we reserve the right to rent reserved bicycles to walk in customers. If there’s an extenuating circumstance as to arrival time, such as reliance on public transit or arriving via airplane/light rail, we can work with you, just let us know in advance. If you’re running late, please call to reschedule. If needed, please make every effort to cancel your reservation instead of no-show. **Group reservations of 4 or more may require a 50% non-refundable deposit and rentals on certain bicycle related event dates require non-refundable prepayment in full.
PARKING: The City Hall garage on the SW corner 5th and Forest is pay upon exit. First hour is free and $2.00 per hour after that with a daily maximum of $16.00. Here’s an interactive map showing parking.
FROM SKY HARBOR AIRPORT: Getting to our location from the airport is easy and doesn’t require a car. Take the free Sky Train from Terminal 3 or 4. The Sky Train is a loop, take it to the 44th Street / Light Rail stop. Take the light rail towards Tempe/Mesa and get off at Veterans Way / College Avenue. We’re at the light rail stop in the Tempe Transportation building. We’re right by the ticket booth / elevators.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: We do not allow mountain bikes to go out for rentals within a 24 to 48 hour window of measurable rain amounts. Trails require time to drain and dry to prevent trail damage. In fact, several riding areas in the valley prohibit riding and equestrian use for 24 to 48 hours after notable rains.
POLICIES: Please see our Policies page for additional rental requirements.
The Bicycle Cellar may customize bike rental rates for large parties or time periods not listed on our rental menu. If you have a special request please contact us to see how we can best suit your needs.
Save time by downloading, printing and filling out our Rental Agreement and bringing it with you to the shop.
